The Actual Best Day 10 Blog Post

We organize this blog post by meals.

Before Breakfast

Day 10! We woke up (again)—that’s good. We prefer it that way. Henry went on a run and Gordie went to the fitness center to do fitness related things.

Breakfast

After waking up, we went down to breakfast, with a cameo from some sauteéd mushrooms that really weren’t that bad. Mushrooms are excellent for your health, with the benefits including Vitamin B, being vegetables, and tasting good.

The above photo was shamelessly stolen from Blog Post Day 1 to demonstrate breakfast. A photo from today was also selected below:

In the morning we (as in Prof. Berliner) proved Fermat’s Little Theorem.

Just like Fermat’s Last Theorem, Fermat wrote it before he died.

We then used it to play around with linear congruences. Perhaps tomorrow we will learn Fermat’s Big Theorem. However, a particularly special part of the morning was when Noah Blom avoided the open seat next to Erika, opting to stand at the opposite end of the bus. A choice demonstrating where his loyalties lie, which were made clear to not be with Erika.

Lunch

For lunch Gavin, Henry, and Kemble went to Asian Street Food Market, where we all ordered Pad Thai. Only Gavin was cool enough to get chopsticks with his order, which left Noah particularly distraught. Gordie decided to be a rebel and go to a cheap pastry shop instead.

After lunch we arrived back into the classroom to see a wonderful presentation by Anna titled “Why Hungarians are Miserable.” It’s safe to say after seeing the presentation, it makes sense why Hungarians are not the happiest. Anna detailed the history of 20th and 21st century Hungarian politics and how the legacies of imperialism and communism, as well as the current political situation, have made Hungarians depressed. Some of us pointed out the differences from America pretty explicitly, like how we noticed that people don’t talk on public transportation.

On this uplifting note, we went to the co-op after class to get Hungarian candy. (Specifically the Balaton Bar).

Important to note: the Balaton bar has a Nutri-Score of E. We don’t know how to read Hungarian yet, we have to assume “E” stands for “excellent.”

After class we went to Hungarian dancing lessons. While some of us have more coordination on the dancefloor than others we all had a good time. It was really hot inside, necessitating numerous outside breaks. Then, we went to Todo Mexican for some yummy tacos.
