Day 23: The Last Tuesday in Budapest

As the program winds down (sad face), today was a free day until 6 pm to attend office hours, study for the final, finalize our cultural presentations, or see the sights of Budapest. You will see that many people chose the final option.

In the morning, Atlas and Erika went ice skating in City Park. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know of any rinks with better views.

Back at the hotel, many people joined for a late morning office hour. Everyone was working diligently to complete the final homework.

The class then split up in the afternoon to see different places.

Adam, Clyde, Collin, Josiah, and Emily went to Matthias Church and then to the Hungarian National Gallery.

Morgan, Liz, Kaylin, Helen, Noah, and Erika had an ethical day at the zoo. The zoo was a winding path of endless exhibits and animals. Some of the favorite animals were the lemurs that were feet away from them, the tiger, and the penguins. They had never been so close to animals like a rhino before this. A highlight of the trip was the souvenir coins. (Yes, there were multiple bought and collected). From there people parted ways, some wandering through City Park.

Grace, Sydney, and Dan went to the Central Market, buying many goods and souvenirs. They also stopped for chimney cakes on the walk back to the hotel.

Sydney, Morgan, Gavin, and Erika then went to St. Stephen’s Basilica, having a beautiful view of the sunset (apart from admiring the Basilica’s interior too).

At 6 pm the class met up at Magyar Tudomanyós Akadémia to watch a movie about math. It was called N is a Number and it explored the life of a Hungarian Mathematician Paul Erdős. He was a brilliant scholar with a funny sense of humor related to death.

The class then split ways for dinner before heading back to the hotel for some studying.

Thank you blog readers! This is Kaylin, Sydney, Morgan, and Grace signing off.
